The School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (SAES)
The School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (SAES) is located in a serene environment at Lake Saaka campus near the shores of Lake Saaka. The school is housed in a complex comprising three well equipped laboratories (water, soil and aquaculture laboratories) and a greenhouse. The school also has vast areas for students’ demonstration plots and agricultural production. The school also has a dairy unit in Kijwiiga, Kyenjojo District
The programmes we offer generally train participants in all aspects of sciences related to agricultural production, Agribusiness, tourism management, floriculture and environmental conservation and such courses include inputs supply chain, propagation, crop agronomy, animal husbandry, soil science, harvest, post harvest handling, marketing, processing, accounting and consumption of agricultural products all of which are potential employment segments of graduates from our courses.

The School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (SAES) of Mountains of the Moon University is proud to be having a highly experience teaching staff. Currently there are 17 full time teaching staff (1 professor, 1 PhD holder, 2 PhD scholars, 10 assistant lecturers and 3 teaching assistants.
The School has partnered with many NGOs in the region in order to meet the needs of the community. This has enabled us to finding solutions for the community’s needs in these areas.
We offer a practical competency based learning and training looking at having graduates who not only will compete highly in the job market, but also be able to create their own jobs. We have chosen this approach because it serves social needs of the community, it provides for a good learning environment, and it enhances the basic competencies of learning. The lectures are punctuated with prior knowledge assessment, role plays, case studies, presentations, debates, practicals and panels.
The school offers 4 degree programs i.e. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (3 years), Bachelor of Environmental Sciences (3 years), Bachelor of Agribusiness (3 years) and Bachelor of Science in Horticulture with Management & Entrepreneurship.
The school offers 2 diploma programs i.e. Diploma in Tourism Travel and Hospitality management (2 years) and Diploma in Floriculture (2 years).
The school also offers 2 Certificate Programs i.e. Certificate in Floriculture and Certificate in Touristm Travel and Hospitality.
