ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The entry requirements for admission to programmes offered at Mountains of the Moon University are in line with the minimum standards set by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).
Applicants recommended by the relevant departments / schools are considered and approved for admission by the University Joint Admissions Board(UJAB). The decisions of the UJAB are communicated to the respective applicants.
Successful applicants are required to deposit a commitment fee, which is part of the first semester tuition fees, and collect admission letters, from the Admissions office. The Admission Letter comprises of a conditional offer to the applicant to register for a specific academic programme, basing on the copies of academic and other documents submitted in the application form.
National Certificate Programmes examined by UBTEB
At least three (3) passes obtained at the same sitting in Uganda Certificate of Education (U.C.E) or its equivalent or a Junior Certificate from the Uganda Business & Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB).
Or Applicants must have attained a prior relevant certificate or higher qualification from any recognized institution.
Higher Education Certificate Programmes
(i) Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) with at least two (2) subsidiary passes, or its equivalent. At least one (1) of the subsidiary passes shall be from a principal subject. For avoidance of doubt, a holder of UACE with only one (1) principal pass shall be deemed to meet the admission requirements.
(ii) At least five (5) passes at the same sitting in Uganda Certificate of Education, or its equivalent.
Or (i) An Ordinary Certificate from an institution recognized by NCHE.
(ii) At least three (3) passes at the same sitting in Uganda Certificate of Education, or its equivalent.
Or A foreign secondary school qualification not considered equivalent to UACE, but permit admission into Higher Education in the foreign country. Such students shall have passed at least five (5) subjects with at least a credit in each of the five (5) subjects.
Diploma Programmes
i) Direct Entry
(i) At least one (1) principal pass obtained at the same sitting in Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education or its equivalent.
(ii) At least five (5) passes obtained at the same sitting in Uganda Certificate of Education, or its equivalent.
ii) Certificate Entry
(i) At least a credit in a two (2) years certificate or its equivalent in a relevant field from a recognized tertiary institution
(ii) At least three (3) passes obtained at the same sitting in Uganda Certificate of Education, or its equivalent.
Bachelor Degree Programmes
i) Direct Entry
(i) At least two (2) principal passes in relevant subjects obtained at the same sitting in Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education, or its equivalent.
(ii) A candidate must have obtained at least five (5) passes at Uganda Certificate of Education, or its equivalent.
ii) Diploma Holder or Equivalent
(i) At least a second class (lower division) diploma in any relevant programme from a recognized Institution.
(ii) At least one (1) principal pass obtained at the same sitting in Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education. Or a Certificate obtained from a recognized tertiary institution
(iii) At least three (3) passes obtained at the same sitting in Uganda Certificate of Education, or its equivalent.
iii)The Mature Age Entry Scheme
Under this scheme, applicants must be at least 25 years with a working experience of at least two (2) years in the related field. They must have sat the mature age university entry examinations accredited by the NCHE, and obtained at least 50% marks
Postgraduate Diploma Programmes
(i) At least a first degree, or its equivalent from a recognized university at the time of completion.
(ii) A Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education, or its equivalent with at least one (1) principal pass and two (2) subsidiary passes obtained at the same sitting.
(iii) A Uganda Certificate of Education, or its equivalent with at least five (5) passes obtained at the same sitting.
(iv) Other specific requirements vary from programme to programme.
Master Degree Programmes
(i) At least a Second Class (Lower Division) degree, or its equivalent awarded by a recognized institution at the time of completion.
(ii) Holder of a third class degree, or its equivalent, may be admitted only after providing evidence of academic growth and maturity in the desired field of study.
(iii) A Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education, or its equivalent with at least one (1) principal pass and two (2) subsidiary passes obtained at the same sitting.
(iv) A Ugandan Certificate of Education, or its equivalent with at least five (5) passes obtained at the same sitting.
(v) Other specific requirements vary from programme to programme.
