HEALTH PARTNERSHIP SCHEME [THET] ON STRENGTHENING PREVENTIVE CAPACITY PROJECT.

The Health Partnership Scheme [HPS] supported the development of health services in Rwenzori region through partnering with Salford University, United Kingdom [UK], MMU and the District Health Services. It was funded by the Department for International Development [DFID] and engaged the UK’s heath sector in a programme that harnesses UK health institutions and professionals in partnership with staff in the School of Health Sciences, MMU.

The partnership had two core linked objectives;
a) To improve the delivery of maternal and new-born services in part through the restoration and promotion of functionality and effectiveness of public sector health centres referring into Fort-Portal Regional Referral Hospital.
b) To help build human resource capacity in Fort-Portal and the UK through the reciprocal initiatives to support the initial; Training and Continuing Professional Development of health workers and allied professionals.

The project was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Louise Ackers.
