Dr. Violet Kisakye

Dean Profile

Dr. Violet Kisakye is the Dean of the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at Mountains of the Moon University and has extensive experience in the area of environmental conservation and most specifically water resources management. Her most recent research focuses on improvement of water access in terms of quantity and quality by ensuring proper sizing of storage volumes and incorporating of climate change predictions in water harvesting systems. Her community engagements include training communities in the Rwenzori region in setting up low cost water harvesting systems using locally available materials. She also has wide experience in low cost water treatment technologies for drinking water treatment aiming at increasing water access for rural communities. Her experience also extends to promotion of sustainable farming systems and she is the coordinator of the Agroecology in Rwenzori-Phase II project which aims at promoting agroecology in the Rwenzori region as an adaptation to climate change through capacity building both at institutional level as well as farmer level.
