Violet Kisakye is an associate professor in the Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences with extensive experience in teaching and in the implementation of research projects that are focused on sustainable agriculture in a changing climate. She graduated in 2018 with a PhD in sustainable water resources management from the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium (KU Leuven). Through her research, she has extensively contributed to the area of water resources management specifically water harvesting technologies for domestic and livestock use in a changing climate. Her Masters is in Integrated Water Resources Management which she obtained from the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. Violet also holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Land Use and Management from Makerere University, Uganda. She previously worked as an agricultural extension worker in several commercial agricultural estates in Uganda and later joined the academic world at Mountains of the Moon University, Fort Portal, Uganda in 2012. Since then, Violet has risen through the ranks to her current position as associate Professor in the Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. She has widely published in reputable scientific journals, especially in the area of water resources management, environmental management, and sustainable agriculture. Her current research projects are centered around the intersectionality between agroecology food systems and irrigation as well as sustainable in-situ water harvesting technologies for smallholder farmers. She’s also coordinating several EU funded projects most notably the Intra Africa Mobility project that supports south to South knowledge exchange in climate change science.
