Ms. Gorret Kugonza is a dedicated Counselling Psychologist, Human Rights Practitioner, Researcher, and Youth Development Specialist with a strong commitment to promoting psychological well-being, mental health, and holistic human development. Since 2022, she has served as the University Counsellor in the Students Affairs Department at Mountains of the Moon University, Uganda, where she provides professional counselling and psychosocial support to both students and staff. Her work focuses on promoting positive mental health, emotional resilience, academic success, healthy relationships, and overall psychological well-being within the university community.

Ms. Kugonza holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Uganda Martyrs University, a Master of Arts in Human Rights from Makerere University, a Diploma in Counselling Psychology from Uganda Martyrs University, and a Bachelor of Education from Makerere University. Her multidisciplinary academic background enables her to integrate counselling, education, and human rights approaches in addressing the diverse psychosocial needs of individuals and communities.

Beyond her university responsibilities, Ms. Kugonza is passionate about community transformation and social justice. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Rwenzori Prolife and Child Care Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports vulnerable children and youth through education, psychosocial support, mentorship, life skills development, and community empowerment, while also promoting international volunteer and internship exchange programmes.

Ms. Kugonza is actively engaged in research, with a particular interest in mental health care for refugees in Uganda, psychosocial support, youth resilience, and community mental health. She is committed to generating evidence that informs policy, counselling practice, and interventions aimed at improving the well-being of vulnerable populations.

Driven by compassion, professionalism, and a strong belief in the dignity and potential of every individual, Ms. Kugonza continues to champion initiatives that empower young people, strengthen communities, and promote mental wellness across educational institutions and society.
