MMU FBMS Hosts Transformative 3-Day Entrepreneurship Boot Camp 2025

The Faculty of Business and Management Sciences (FBMS) at Mountains of the Moon University (MMU), in partnership with the Implicit Effect Community Initiative, successfully hosted a dynamic three-day Entrepreneurship Boot Camp from 28th to 30th August 2025 at the Lake Saaka Main Campus. The boot camp engaged students from across the MMU community with a mission to inspire, equip, and empower the next generation of innovators and business leaders.
Dubbed a Social Equity Program, the bootcamp aimed to provide participants with more than just entrepreneurial knowledge. It was designed to nurture leadership, innovation, and mental well-being among the youth, while also promoting digital literacy and community-driven impact.
Participants were betrothed in an intensive curriculum covering practical business skills, innovation and ideation processes, and leadership development. Through the internationally recognized Junior Achievers-Digital Entrepreneurship Education Program (JA-DEEP), attendees completed online modules and earned globally acknowledged certificates in entrepreneurship.
A major highlight of the camp was the use of the Business Model Canvas to guide students in shaping actionable business ideas. Participants were grouped into teams and tasked with developing social impact projects aimed at improving both their livelihoods and the communities around them.
Sharing her experience, Ms. Kabugho Ritah, one of the participating students, said that the Boot Camp was a game-changer for them and that they had gained invaluable skills in entrepreneurship, innovation, and critical thinking, as she acknowledged that it was truly empowering.
Speaking at the close of the Boot Camp, Mr. Kyambadde Patrick, the Team Leader, emphasized the importance of nurturing entrepreneurial talent among the youth, stating, “This program is not just about starting businesses, it’s about building sustainable solutions that uplift communities and inspire long-term impact.”
From this exercise, the top three winning groups were selected to receive expert mentorship and are set to compete with other leading teams from universities across the country. The national winners will walk away with UGX 18 million in seed funding and a chance to represent Uganda on the international stage, where the ultimate prize stands at USD 8,000.
The Entrepreneurship Boot Camp 2025 has not only equipped young people with vital tools for success but has also ignited an improved sense of purpose and innovation, laying a solid foundation for the future of social entrepreneurship in Uganda and beyond.
