The Faculty of Business and Management Sciences at Mountains of the Moon University convened leading scholars and faculty members for its second Research Seminar Series at Fort Breeze Hotel on 23rd and 24th February 2026, in a strategic move aimed at strengthening research capacity and advancing scholarly excellence.

The seminar provided a platform for high-level academic engagement focused on improving methodological rigor, enhancing theoretical grounding, and promoting a stronger research culture within the Faculty.

The Faculty Research Coordinator, Dr. Nickson Nagaaba commended participants for their active engagement and encouraged continued peer learning beyond the seminar.

In his welcoming remarks, the Head of the Banking and Finance Department, Ronald Aliija, emphasized the growing importance of research productivity and institutional visibility in higher education. He noted that the Faculty is positioning itself not only as a consumer of knowledge but as a producer of impactful and globally competitive research.

The Dean of the Faculty Dr. John Rwakihembo stressed that the seminar was designed to build capacity, particularly among junior researchers and assistant lecturers pursuing academic progression. He restated Faculty management’s commitment to supporting research initiatives for both staff and students and commended members who have continued to publish despite limited research funding.

He emphasized that sustained research excellence requires deliberate mentorship, collaboration, and institutional support. He assured the faculty team that the top university management is strongly committed to strengthening research structures, supporting the increasing publication output, and nurturing a vibrant scholarly community.

The seminar featured expert-led discussions on critical areas in business research, including theorization in business research, scientific approaches to literature review writing, contextual and logical data interpretation, and research ideation and problem identification. Advanced methodological analysis, particularly mediation and moderation techniques, was also explored, alongside research philosophies.

Delivering remarks on behalf of staff, Dr. Muhangi Bernard commended the faculty management for organizing what he described as a timely and intellectually enriching workshop. He noted that such structured scholarly engagements are instrumental in sharpening research competencies, strengthening collegial mentorship, and fostering collaboration across departments. He encouraged colleagues to translate the knowledge gained into tangible research outputs, publications, and grant-winning proposals.

The Research Seminar Series II marks another strategic step by the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences toward institutionalizing a strong research culture and enhancing its contribution to knowledge generation at national and international levels.
