Edwin Akugizibwe

Senior Lecturer

Akugizibwe Edwin is a senior lecturer of Mathematics and Data Science at Mountains of the Moon University.

His research interests include applied mathematical modeling, mathematical e-learning, and the application of machine learning methods for optimizing health care in remote settings. He has published many articles and led many projects in these areas.

  5. Team leader on research titled “Analysis of disease patterns in Rwenzori region using DALYs and Bayesian parametric methods” under MMU-RIF funding from 2022-2024

  7. Team member on research titled “Mathematical analysis of the impact of poor sanitation on human health, environment and economic development in the new cities of Uganda” under Kabale university -RIF funding from 2022-Present.

  10. Team member of the BRIDGE NETWORK program on Data science skills enhancement project consortium involving several Uganda, Africa and Europe universities funded via an international grant in 2023-present.

 1. Ongoing: Currently Supervising 2 PhD students of Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST). One is doing Applied mathematics Education and the other is doing Computer Science theory of Tasks Allocation Problems for Heterogenous Servers. They have all successfully defended their research proposals.
