This guide provides clear, step-by-step instructions to help you successfully complete your application to Mountains of the Moon University (MMU). Please read carefully before starting your application.

Requirements

Before beginning your application, ensure you have the following:

  1. A valid email address
  2. An active phone number
  3. Scanned Academic documents (O-Level, A-Level, Diploma, Degree transcripts as applicable)
  4. Details such as index numbers, years of sitting, and awarding institutions
  5. A stable internet connection

Accessing the Application Portal

  • Click Apply Now button at the bottom of this page, or visit https://admissions.mmu.ac.ug/ to access the application portal.

4. Creating an account and logging in

4.1 New applicants: Create an account

  1. Click Sign Up Now if you do not already have an account.
  2. Enter the required details, including your name, phone number, and email address.
  3. Submit the sign-up form.
  4. A password will be sent to your email and phone number by SMS. If the SMS does not arrive, check your email.
  5. Log in using your email address or phone number and the password provided.
  6. Change the temporary password to one you can easily remember but keep secure.

4.2 Returning applicants: Log in

  • Click Login if you already have an account.
  • Enter your email address or phone number and password.
  • If you previously applied, your earlier application records may appear on the dashboard.

5. Starting your application

  1. Click Undergraduate and Postgraduate from the side menu.
  2. Review the available application schemes.
  3. Click Apply Now under the scheme that matches your qualification.

6. Choosing the correct application scheme

Select the scheme that matches your qualification. Choosing the wrong scheme may delay processing or lead to rejection of your application.

Application scheme Who should use it
PhD Entry Scheme Applicants with a relevant Master’s degree applying for PhD programmes.
Postgraduate Entry Scheme Applicants applying for postgraduate diplomas or Master’s programmes.
A-Level Entry Scheme Applicants who completed UACE and are applying for Diploma, Higher Education Access Certificate, or Bachelor’s programmes.
Diploma Entry Scheme Applicants with a recognized diploma qualification applying for Bachelor’s programmes.
Certificate Entry Scheme Applicants with a certificate qualification applying for Diploma programmes.

7. Filling in the application form

Complete all required sections of the application form. The key sections include:

Section What to enter Key reminder
Biodata Personal details, contact details, and other applicant information. Ensure names match your academic documents.
Programme choices Preferred programme or programmes. Confirm that you meet the minimum entry requirements.
Academic qualifications O-Level, A-Level, Certificate, Diploma, Degree, or other qualifications as applicable. Enter correct index numbers, years of sitting, institutions, and grades.

8. Submitting the application

  1. Review all information entered on the form.
  2. Correct any errors before submission.
  3. Click Submit Form after completing all required fields.
  4. Do not submit until you are sure the information is complete and accurate.

9. Uploading required documents

  1. Click Attach Files.
  2. Select the appropriate file category.
  3. Browse and upload the required document.
  4. Confirm that the uploaded file is clear and readable.

Important: Failure to upload all required documents may lead to delays or rejection of your application.

9.1 Required documents by application scheme

Upload the correct documents based on the scheme under which you are applying.

Scheme/category Documents to upload Equivalence requirement
A-Level Entry (S.6 leavers) UCE and UACE result slips; UCE and UACE certificates, where available; proof of application fees payment. Foreign examination body certificates require a Letter of Equivalence from UNEB.
Other schemes (Certificate/Diploma holders) UCE result slip; other academic result slips/transcripts or UACE result slips; UCE certificate and other certificates held, or UACE certificate; proof of application fees payment. Foreign certificates or diplomas require a Letter of Equivalence from UNEB or NCHE.
Postgraduate applicants UCE and UACE result slips; UCE and UACE certificates; academic transcripts/result slips for Certificate, Diploma, Degree, or other qualifications; academic certificates; proof of application fees payment. Foreign qualifications require a Letter of Equivalence from UNEB or NCHE.
PhD Entry applicants Research synopsis; three referee letters, two academic and one professional; Master’s degree transcript and certificate; undergraduate degree transcript and certificate, or equivalent; other degrees where applicable; UACE result slip/certificate; UCE result slip/certificate. Foreign qualifications may require recognition/equivalence from the relevant authority.

10. Payment of application fees

  1. Click Pay for Form.
  2. Select your preferred payment method.
  3. Complete the payment process as instructed by the portal.
  4. Keep proof of payment for reference and upload it where required.

11. Confirmation and important reminders

11.1 Confirmation of application

  • After successful payment, your application will be considered complete for processing.
  • Check your dashboard for confirmation messages or status updates.
  • Keep checking the email address and phone number used during application for official communication.

11.2 Important reminders

  • Use accurate information that matches your documents.
  • Use a valid email address and phone number for communication.
  • Keep your login credentials secure.
  • Ensure uploaded documents are clear and legible.
  • Log out after completing your application, especially when using a shared computer.
