A total of 46 candidates have been awarded certificates at the second annual six-week training course in Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Qualitative Research (EBQ) conducted by the Faculty of Health Sciences of Mountains of the Moon University (MMU) held on September 2024 at Nyaika Hotel, Fort-Portal City.
The course targets practicing health and health-trained professionals to equip them with epidemiological, statistical, and qualitative research knowledge.
The course started on August 5th 2024 at Kalya Courts Hotel with a one-week face-to-face session. The rest of the time was online teaching which culminated into sitting for final tests leading to the award of certificates to successful candidates.
Dr. Emmanuel Kimera, the Dean of Health Sciences implored the successful candidates to use the knowledge acquired to better service delivery to the community. He thanked them for have interest in the course and for taking courage to enroll and be able to finish.
Dr. Raphael Aregu who represented the Vice-Chancellor said learning is continuous process and to always seek for more knowledge. He appreciated and thanked successful candidates for having trusted MMU as a training institution of choice. “Go back to your work place and show you have improved,” he implored.
The training course modules include Quantitative Epidemiology Study Designs; Methods of data analysis in epidemiology/biostatistics; Quantitative data analysis using statistical software package R and R studio; Qualitative study designs; and Qualitative data analysis using statistical software package (Nvivo).
The course was organized by Prof. John Rubaihayo, project coordinator, at MMU and Prof. Pascal Coorevits project coordinator, University of Gent, Belgium. Thanks to Prof. John Rubaihayo and others for always winning projects to MMU.
