Graduands asked to be Innovative and Provide Solutions to National Challenges.

The President  of the Republic  of Uganda His Excellence Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has asked Graduands to  be innovative and provide  solutions to National challenges.

This was in his speech that was read during the 18th Graduation ceremony by the Vice President H.E Retired (Maj) Jessica Alupo at Mountains of the Moon University in Fort portal City on Friday 20th February 2026 at Lake Saaka Campus.

The President cautioned students against getting involved in un ethical behaviour that might cost the country the development that the country is currently undertaking.

The Minister of Education who is also the First Lady of the Republic of Uganda Hon.Janet Kataha Museveni who was represented by the State Minister for Primary Education Hon.Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu asked the University to design academic programs that respond to National and Regional needs.

We need graduands that will provide innovative solutions to National and Regional challenges,” read part of her speech.

She also asked the University  to prepare a curriculum  that will befit the competence  based learning.

The Chancellor Professor Edward.B.Rugumayo thanked the Government  of Uganda  for supporting the institution  and appealed to Government  to help work on infrastructure  like the Road network that heads to the institution  to help ease the movement  of learners.

The Vice Chancellor Professor Pius Coxwell  Achanga congratulated the grandaunts upon successfully completing their studies and asked them to be exemplary and continue fostering the values of Professionalism, Innovativeness, Integrity and social responsibility.

He assured the public that the University is focused towards fostering community transformation through Education, Research and community engagement for social transformation.

It should be noted that this has been the University’s 18th Graduation Ceremony ever since its’ inception.

A total number of 520 students graduated ,113 graduated with Diplomas,304 with Bachelors Degrees, 35 with Post Graduate Diplomas and 68 with Masters Degrees.

24 students graduated with First Class Bachelor’s Degrees.
