Biography

Justice Dan Akiiki-Kiiza (Rtd), is a Ministerial Appointee on the Council of MMU, and the Chairperson of the Student Welfare, Discipline, and Gender Equity Committee of Council. Justice Kiiza is a retired Judge of the High Court of the Republic of Uganda.

He was appointed Judge of the High Court on 11th January 1998 and served till 2014. He was then appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Seychelles from 2014 to 2017, (a 3-year Contract by the Commonwealth). Justice Kiiza also served as an Anti-Corruption Judge of the Commonwealth in Lesotho in June 2013, and Commonwealth Judge for Criminal Cases in Sierra Leone (September 2004-September 2006). Before Justice Akiiki-Kiiza was appointed judge, he was a Magistrate Grade I from 1977-89, Senior Magistrate Grade I from 1989-92, Chief Magistrate 1992-93, and Registrar/Inspector of Courts 1993-98. Justice Kiiza holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Center- 1977; and a Bachelor of Law from Makerere University- 1976.
