Alex Moruleng is a Doctoral Researcher in the Division of Agricultural, Food & Resource Economics at KU Leuven, Belgium. He holds a Master of Science in Agricultural and Applied Economics and a Bachelor of Science with Education (Economics and Mathematics). Previously, he worked with Baroque Publishers (U) Ltd, where he co-authored four New Lower Secondary Curriculum Mathematics textbooks used across schools in Uganda. Currently, he serves as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Social Sciences at Mountains of the Moon University, where he has taught courses such as Mathematical Economics, Microeconomics, Statistics for Economics, Labour Economics, Econometrics, Development Economics, and Behavioural Economics.
His research interests include impact evaluation, adoption of agricultural technologies, disaster risk reduction, environmental valuation, financial inclusion, and the social and solidarity economy. His doctoral research examines the role of Socio-Economic Solidarity Mechanisms, including Village Savings and Loan Associations, farmer groups, and cooperatives, in strengthening household response, recovery, and adaptation to disasters in the Rwenzori Region. He has published in internationally peer-reviewed journals such as Natural Resources Forum (Wiley) and Discover Soil (Springer), with additional manuscripts currently under review.
