Dr. Robert Tomusange is a Lecturer of Comparative Education at Mountains of the Moon University (MMU), Uganda, with expertise in Comparative Education, Curriculum Studies, Competence-Based Education, educational policy, teacher education, and educational research. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Makerere University, a Master’s degree in Comparative Education from Central China Normal University, and a PhD in Comparative Education from Beijing Normal University, China.
He has substantial experience in university teaching, undergraduate research supervision, curriculum development, academic leadership, and educational research. At Mountains of the Moon University, he has served as Head of the Department of Foundations of Education, Undergraduate Research Coordinator in the Faculty of Education, and Faculty CBET focal person. In these roles, he has contributed to academic programme development, student research coordination and supervision, competence-based education and training initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and quality improvement in teacher education.
Dr. Tomusange’s research interests include Competence-Based Curriculum and Education, social justice and educational inequalities, comparative and international education, educational policy and management, teacher education, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in higher education. His research and scholarly work focuses on examining how educational policies and reforms are implemented and how they influence teaching, learning, equity, inclusion, and educational outcomes, particularly within the Ugandan and broader African contexts.
He has experience supervising undergraduate research projects across education-related programmes, guiding students in research conceptualisation, proposal development, data collection, analysis, and dissertation writing. He also contributes to academic conferences, scholarly publications, curriculum review, professional development, and capacity-building programmes for educators.
