Kalulu Ronald is a distinguished educator and scholar with a profound commitment to academic excellence and student success. Holding a Ph.D. in Tourism and Hospitality Management from Lincoln University College, a master of Tourism and Hospitality Management from Makerere University (2015), and a first-class bachelor’s degree in catering and hotel management from Makerere University(2010), Kalulu has a diploma in catering and hotel management of Makerere University. Dr. Kalulu Ronald brings over a decade of teaching experience to his role as Lecturer in the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management Mountains of the Moon University. Dr. Kalulu’s research focuses primarily on hospitality theory and policy, with particular expertise on service quality, service environment, and value-for-money demand in the hospitality and tourism sector. His scholarly contributions have been published in leading academic journals, influencing the discourse within his field. He is recognized for his rigorous analytical approach and innovative perspectives on contemporary hospitality and tourism issues. In addition to his scholarly achievements, Dr. Kalulu is deeply engaged in mentoring and advising students, fostering a supportive learning environment that encourages critical thinking and intellectual curiosity. He has played a pivotal role in curriculum development, integrating real-world applications and interdisciplinary perspectives into the tourism and hospitality program. Beyond his academic endeavors, Dr. Kalulu is actively involved in community outreach initiatives aimed at promoting tourism and hospitality development. He serves on several academic committees and boards, contributing his expertise to institutional governance and policy formulation. Dr. Kalulu’s dedication to advancing knowledge and nurturing the next generation of leaders underscores his unwavering commitment to academic excellence and the pursuit of impactful research. Kalulu was recognized among the top 200 scientific researchers in Rwanda in 2022.

By the time of writing this, Kalulu is a Lecturer in the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, at Mountains of the Moon University- Uganda. He taught at the University of Tourism, Technology, and Business Studies in Rwanda (UTB) for five years. He served as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Leisure and Hospitality Management, the Faculty of Marketing and Hospitality of Makerere University Business School (Mubs), a Part-time lecturer Department of Tourism and Biodiversity of Makerere University, and as a part-time lecturer in the faculty of Business and Management of the International University of East Africa-Kampala. Kalulu has attended 8 international research conferences and thus published over 10 research articles in international journals and has a strong passion and high interest in tourism and hospitality research and education. He is currently authoring a tourism and hospitality book. He has taught tourism and hospitality studies for more than 10 years and supervised over 50 students’ research projects for both postgraduate and undergraduate.

CONSULTANCY September 2023-upto date a co-PI and technical advisor for the establishment of Mountains of the Moon (MMU) Tourism trail July 2019, a member of a team of consultants undertaking a study of establishing standard operating procedures and Minimum job qualification requirements for all hospitality and tourism firms in Rwanda. March 2019: I was hired by GIZ-Rwanda as a lead trainer for all local tour guides as well as for the Congo-Nile trail tour guides of Rwanda which task was completed and held at IPRC Karongi. October 2018: Participated in the curriculum review of the University of Tourism, Technology and Business Studies Rwanda. The report was submitted and accepted by the Higher Education Council of Rwanda. Reviewed an article in the Journal of Research Innovations and Implications in Education in 2019 September 2018: Conducted a specialized training of hotel owners and employees, restaurant owners and employees in Rubavu district western province of Rwanda in September 2018. The task was completed and the necessary report was presented and accepted. May 2016: I was tasked together with other hotel professionals by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) to oversee customer service within Kigali 3 to 5-star hotels during the African Union meeting and World Economic Forum annual meeting that was held in Kigali City. Professional service was required and the focus was on supervising all the hotel activities and operations needed to make sure delegates were well taken care of. These included receptions and welcome, restaurant and bar services, guest room check-ups, and communication with guests and liaising them with other stakeholders within the AfDB conference. 2017 up-to-date Coordinator Kivu Belt tourism projects in the Western province of Rwanda
