Andrew Tugume Karitani is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, Technology and Innovations, at Mountains of the Moon University (MMU), Uganda, with over 15 years of experience in higher education teaching, research, curriculum development, and academic leadership. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Computing by Research at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), where his research focuses on developing a Big Data Analytics Framework to enhance decision-making in student enrollment and academic performance prediction in Ugandan higher education institutions.

He holds a Master of Science in Information Systems and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, with extensive expertise in software development, database systems, data warehousing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, educational data analytics, and decision support systems. His teaching portfolio includes programming languages such as Python, Java, and C++, database management systems, systems analysis and design, and data analytics. Beyond teaching, he has supervised numerous undergraduate research projects, coordinated academic quality assurance activities, and contributed to curriculum review and competency-based education initiatives.

Andrew’s research interests span Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Learning Analytics, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Information Systems, and Digital Transformation in Higher Education. He has actively participated in national and international research and capacity-building initiatives, particularly in AI governance, responsible AI, and data-driven public policy. His work seeks to bridge the gap between advanced analytics research and practical institutional decision-making in resource-constrained environments.

A collaborative researcher and educator, Andrew is committed to advancing evidence-based policy, strengthening higher education systems through innovative digital solutions, and contributing to the achievement of Uganda Vision 2040, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Africa’s Agenda 2063 through impactful research, teaching, and community engagement.
