Mountains of the Moon University today convened a comprehensive staff meeting at the Block B parking lot, bringing together academic, administrative and supportpersonnel from across the institution.
The meeting was presided over by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Pius Cox well Achanga, who was joined by Deputy Vice Chancellor Assoc. Prof. Kagambe Edmond among other Top University Management in addressing the assembled staff members.
Prof. Achanga opened the session by welcoming new staff members to the university community and reinforced the institutional values that guide the university’s operations.
“I welcome all our new staff members to Mountains of the Moon University,” said Prof. Achanga. “Our university thrives on core values that define who we are: professionalism, innovativeness, teamwork, and social responsibility. These values are the foundation upon which we build our excellence.”
The Vice Chancellor praised the staff for their exceptional performance during the previous academic year, recognizing contributions across multiple departments.
“I want to laud all staff for their great performance last year, especially in academics, security, and other staff categories,” Prof. Achanga said. “Your dedication and hard work have been instrumental in maintaining our institutional excellence.”
Prof. Achanga outlined the university’s strategic priorities moving forward, emphasizing key areas for institutional growth and development.
“Let’s focus more on research, do publications, digitalization, and strengthen institutional capacities,” he said. “We must also prioritize infrastructural development, including the completion of the first phase of the Faculty of Agriculture building.”
The Vice Chancellor also highlighted the university’s focus areas for the upcoming academic year, setting clear priorities for institutional advancement.
“Our focus in the next year will be to provide high quality teaching, strengthen collaboration and partnerships, and engage in activities of self sustainability,” Prof. Achanga emphasized.
Prof. Achanga also outlined the university’s commitment to development initiatives, revealing that a dedicated portion of the institutional budget is allocated for growth projects.
“Two percent of our budget is specifically meant for development,” Prof. Achanga explained. “I encourage all staff members to write projects that can contribute to the university’s development. Your innovative ideas and proposals are crucial for our institutional advancement.”
Deputy Vice Chancellor Associate Prof. Kagambe Edmond also addressed the staff, emphasizing the importance of quality service delivery and institutional reputation.
“I encourage all staff to focus on delivering their duties effectively and efficiently while promoting and protecting the positive image of MMU,” said Assoc. Prof. Kagambe. “Each of you is an ambassador of this institution, and your conduct reflects on our collective reputation.”
The meeting comes at a crucial time for the university as it continues to strengthen its position as a leading higher education institution in western Uganda. Staff meetings of this nature are typically convened to ensure alignment between university leadership and employees on institutional priorities.
Mountains of the Moon University has consistently emphasized the importance of regular communication between management and staff as part of its commitment to transparent governance and operational excellence.
