Mountains of the Moon University (MMU) has emerged as the best Public University at the just concluded 2024 (14th – Edition) National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) held in Mbale City between March 21st – 23rd 2024.
The 14th Edition of the NCHE Exhibition attracted over 70 higher institutions of learning in the Country ranging from Tertiary Institutions in Health, Vocational, Insurance, and Banking. Others that participated were provisionally licensed private universities, private chartered universities, and public universities, all these were brought under one roof to guide the prospective Ugandans seeking higher education.
MMU became the 2nd Runner Up under the Public and Private Chartered Universities category meaning MMU was the only public university that won an award. The 1st runner-up under the same category was the University of Kisubi while Uganda Christian University became the overall winner.
This year’s NCHE exhibition’s main theme was: “Fostering Graduate Employability and Innovations.”
The competition was measured on different parameters including alignment to the theme; level of innovation and subject matter; knowledge of the subject matter; level of participation; level of articulation; number of stalls; and display of stalls.
While officially closing the 2024 exhibition the Executive Director, NCHE Prof. Mary J.N. Okwakol encouraged all participating institutions to collaborate as a way of attracting possible funding since funders are more interested in dealing with consortia than individual institutions. She argued institutions to strive to get funds to develop their young innovations into marketable products for the government and elsewhere in the world.
This is the 1st time MMU has received an award at NCHE Exhibitions since its inception 14 years ago. We look forward to winning more awards since faculties have embraced the activity.
The NCHE exhibition is a University activity; it is expected that all 6 Faculties participate.
Thanks goes to our great university administration, staff and the funders. We students we believe in research, innovation and exhibition as some of the factors to influence employability and therefore no alternative other than embracing those factors.
Congrats 🎉🥳
Thank you
