The Consortium of Uganda University Libraries (CUUL) invites students, researchers, library professionals and other stakeholders to the 5th Annual Research CUUL Conference, scheduled to take place from 1st to 2nd October 2026 at Four Points by Sheraton, Kampala, Uganda.
Held under the theme “Transforming Knowledge Ecosystems for Navigating the Digital Frontier,” the conference will provide a platform for participants to learn, connect, share knowledge and explore emerging developments in research, libraries, information services, records management and the wider knowledge ecosystem.
The conference is particularly relevant to third-year undergraduate students pursuing Library and Information Science (LIS) and Records and Archives Management. CUUL is offering an opportunity for five Ugandan third-year undergraduate students to attend the conference through student sponsorship. The sponsorship will cover conference fees, including meals and materials, as well as transport within Kampala.

Students will have an opportunity to interact and network with fellow students, researchers, library professionals and other practitioners while gaining valuable exposure to current trends and innovations in the profession.
The conference will feature a panel discussion on Artificial Intelligence in Records Management and Archival Practice, examining how AI is transforming the sector, with particular focus on ethical considerations, metadata, automation and digital preservation.
Another panel discussion will focus on Scholarly Communication and Open Science, exploring how libraries are advancing scholarly communication, institutional repositories, research visibility and open science, and how these developments are shaping the future of research and knowledge dissemination.
The early-bird registration fee for Ugandans and East Africans is UGX 200,000 (approximately US$55) and runs until 31st August 2026. Late registration will cost UGX 250,000 (approximately US$70). For participants from outside East Africa, the early registration fee is US$100, while late registration is US$120.
