Call for Applications: MMU Research and Innovation Fund 2024/25

The Directorate of Graduate Studies, Research and Innovation (DGSRI), Mountains of the Moon University (MMU) invites proposals for the MMU Research and Innovation Fund (MMU-RIF) for the year 2024/25. This fund supports our strategic vision to become a center of excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement for sustainable development.

Key Focus Areas

Our five-year strategic plan (2020/21 – 2025/26) emphasizes strengthening research, innovation, and partnerships. The MMU Research Agenda (2023-2028) outlines our commitment to high-quality research that translates into community solutions.

Strategic Directions

DGSRI collaborates with faculties to enhance our research portfolio through:

1. Partnerships: Building synergies with national and international universities.
2. Talent Development: Recruiting and retaining top researchers.
3. Knowledge Transfer: Producing and commercializing innovative technologies.
4. Systems Approach: Managing research and innovation efficiently.

Funding Details

The Government of Uganda has allocated special funding to support high-impact research and innovation projects. This funding aims to create commercially viable products and community solutions, contributing to national development goals like NDPIII, Vision 2040, and the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

Application Guidelines

• Eligibility: Projects involving multidisciplinary teams addressing societal needs.
• Expected Outputs: At least 50 publications, 5 commercialized innovations or startups annually, increased research capacity, and higher degree graduates.
• Project Duration: 6-12 months.
• Submission: Proposals must be submitted electronically to MMU.RIF2024@mmu.ac.ug by Friday, 2nd August 2024, 11:59 PM EAT.
• Format: Times New Roman, 12-point font size, single-spaced, normal margins, not exceeding 25 pages.
