It was glitz and glamour at Mountains of the Moon University as close to 800 Students were awarded in various disciplines at the University’s Main Campus in Lake Saaka, Fort Portal Tourism City.
The University Chancellor Prof. Edward. B Rugumayo said that Mountains of the Moon University has a great opportunity to contribute to Uganda’s Agenda of Development specifically by exploiting the vast resource potential and opportunities available to accelerate growth and impact on communities.
The Vice Chancellor for Mountains of the Moon University Prof. Pius Coxwell Achanga thanked the Government of Uganda for the support rendered to the University and appealed for more support to enable infrastructural development in the Institution.
“MMU’s students’ enrollment is increasing rapidly and there is urgent need to provide infrastructure that will match the increasing enrolment, I appeal to Government and Partners for support,” he noted.
Prof. Achanga added that the poor Road Network to the University is a big challenge to both students and staff and it also needs to be worked upon in order to ease access of students, visitors, Partners and staff to the University.
The Minister of State for Primary Health Care Hon. Margaret Muhanga Mugisa who represented the Chief Guest President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni applauded the Leadership of Mountains of the Moon University for fostering transformative Learning in the greater Rwenzori Region.
“Two years back, Mountains of the Moon University attained a Public status and this is giving great opportunity to the people of Rwenzori Region to attain quality Education in the nearby vicinity,” she said.
She said that it is important to equip students with relevant skills that will meet the demands of the rapidly changing global economy.
Lieutenant Col. Namanya Saul graduated as the best student with a CPGA of 4.84 with a Bachelors Degree in Public Administration and Management.
