Staff from the Directorate of Procurement and Disposal at Mountains of the Moon University have completed a 3-day training on the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
The training was conducted by officials from the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development under the Accountant General’s Office ran from Monday, August 10 to Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at Saaka main campus.
The e-GP system is a government online initiative designed to transform public procurement and accelerate service delivery across all government entities. Kyarampe Osbert, Functional Support Officer from the Ministry of Finance, told MMU staff being trained that the system is intended to promote transparency, accountability, and accuracy in financial management.
“All procurement departments, accounting officers, and auditors are being trained across the country to shift from paperwork to an online system which is quick and effective,” Osbert said.
He said the ministry is currently in the change management phase, preparing procurement departments for full online execution. He added that the system will help prevent loss of procurement information.
Joanita Mutesi, also a trainer from the Ministry of Finance, said the e-GP system will streamline digital procurement processes saying every step will be traceable with ability to capture who did what, when, and how.
Mutesi narrated that it will help avoid bias and uncertainties in procurement operations. She added that all bidding procedures will be incorporated into the system, with reduced costs and no paperwork required. Mutegeki Deo, Senior Procurement Officer at Mountains of the Moon University, said the training marks an important step in safeguarding procurement information, improving tracking, and preventing delays. He called for more trainings to build advanced knowledge and expertise among staff.
Once fully rolled out to all government procuring departments, the e-GP system is expected to support better planning, faster execution, stronger compliance, greater transparency, and improved service delivery
