Mountains of the Moon University (MMU) today hosted the 4th Annual Student Farmer CSO Research Exchange Platform 2026, bringing together stakeholders under the theme “Upscaling Student Research to Unlock the Regenerative Agriculture-Productive Use of Renewable Energy (RA-PURE) Nexus for Innovation, Green Jobs, Career Development and Resilient Food Systems.”
The event was organized by the Advocacy Coalition for Sustainable Agriculture (ACSA), Power for Food (PFF), and Misereor, and coordinated by Dr. John Sekajugo on behalf of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
The engagement drew 70 stakeholders drawn from civil society organizations, NGOs, district local governments, farmers, and private companies representing all regions of Uganda.
The Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (FAES) was represented by 40 students and 5 academic staff.
Representing the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Raphael Aregu delivered the keynote address, underscoring the critical role practitioners play in shaping relevant academic programs and ensuring quality teaching delivery at the University.
Stakeholders toured the University’s practical learning and teaching facilities for agricultural based training, expressing admiration for the infrastructure in place. Many committed to offering field-based internship placements for MMU students, while a number requested formal partnerships with the University aimed at strengthening competence based training and generating relevant research ideas.
