Call for Applications: MAINSTREAM Mobility Scholarship Program

Program Overview: The Mobility 4 Agricultural International Networks Supporting Thematic Resilience and Enhancing Adaptation and Mitigation (MAINSTREAM) project seeks to enhance education, skills development, and climate change resilience in agricultural knowledge systems across Africa. MAINSTREAM targets both tertiary agricultural education and collaboration with policy and industry leaders to modernize and internationalize agricultural programs.

The program promotes interdisciplinary agricultural education at the master’s and doctoral levels, with a special focus on increasing the participation of women and underrepresented groups in agriculture. MAINSTREAM aims to enhance mobility and applied research in climate-sensitive agriculture, breaking gendered perceptions, and fostering inclusive learning environments.

Scholarship Opportunities:

  • Master’s Students: Scholarships available for up to 6 months of research or coursework related to climate-sensitive agriculture. A total of 70 master’s students will be supported.
  • PhD Students: Scholarships available for up to 12 months for dissertation research or relevant coursework. A total of 30 PhD students will be supported.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Tuition fee coverage
  • Monthly subsistence allowance (€890 for master’s students, €1,230 for PhD students)
  • Insurance
  • Coverage of travel and visa expenses
  • Participation costs (tuition and registration fees)
  • Research expenses (based on available budget)
  • Additional support for scholarship holders with disabilities

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must apply to approved programs at designated universities (as per the mobility flow).
  • Must meet the admission requirements of the host university and submit a 500-word motivation statement explaining how the scholarship aligns with their current study or research.
  • Applicants should provide details of their academic background and work experience.
  • Candidates who have previously received an intra-Africa mobility scholarship (MOBAF 2022-2027) are not eligible to apply.
