Mountains of the Moon University (MMU) marked a significant milestone yesterday as 32 new staff members took their official oath and oath of secrecy in a formal ceremony presided over by His Worship Amon Magezi.
The swearing-in ceremony, which took place at the Block C, Main Hall, symbolized the institution’s commitment to expanding its academic and administrative capacity. The new recruits, comprising both academic, administrative and support staff, pledged to uphold the university’s values and maintain confidentiality in their respective roles.
During the ceremony, Joseph Byaruhanga, the Deputy Chief, Human Resource Management at MMU emphasized the importance of integrity and dedication in advancing the university’s mission. “Your commitment today marks not just a personal milestone, but a crucial step in strengthening MMU’s position as a center of excellence in higher education,” he stated.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy University Secretary, Perez Mwebesa highlighted the institution’s dedication to workforce development. “MMU is firmly committed to fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. Our goal is to attract and retain top talented workers who will contribute to our vision of academic excellence and innovation,” he emphasized.
Iddi Basaija, one of the newly sworn-in staff members, expressed enthusiasm about joining the institution. “We are excited to be part of this vibrant community and we will contribute to university’s mission,” he stated, reflecting the positive sentiment among the new recruits.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, the Directorate of Human Resources, led by Joseph Byaruhanga, conducted a brief orientation session. Byaruhanga and his team guided the new staff through various university policies, including employment terms, code of conduct, and institutional procedures, ensuring a smooth transition into their new roles.
The newly sworn-in staff will join various departments across the university, bringing fresh perspectives and expertise to enhance the institution’s academic and operational capabilities. This recruitment drive represents one of the largest single intakes of staff in the university’s recent history.
University officials expressed optimism that this expansion would contribute significantly to the institution’s growth and development objectives.
