Welcome to the Office of the Radio Unit-MMU Radio 105.2 FM – “amagezi murro”

MMU Radio 105.2 FM is the voice of Mountains of the Moon University a dynamic community radio born out of the VLIRUOS-IUC Program to strengthen our pillars of training, research, and community engagement.

As a university-based community station, we serve not only the MMU family but also the wider public across Fort Portal and beyond through live broadcasts and online streaming.

Our Mission

To inform, educate, entertain, and connect. We offer a platform for academic dialogue, cultural expression, and civic participation amplifying the voices of students, staff, and local communities. Through the Radio Unit, we support university programs by:

Training media students and nurturing hands-on broadcasting skills. Covering live events and promoting educational and public service content, sharing research findings in ways that reach and inspire the community and Bridging academia and society through outreach and engagement initiatives.

Our Team

Under the leadership of Mr. Matsiko Gilbert Akky, Radio Manager, the Radio Unit brings together a dedicated team of broadcasters, producers, content creators, and technical staff who are all passionate about delivering high-quality, relevant, and inclusive content.

Our structure includes:

  • Production and Editing Studio: Crafting quality audio content.
  • News Desk: Reporting timely and accurate news that matters to our community.
  • Traffic Desk: Coordinating programming, advertisements, and public announcements for smooth daily operations.
  • Outreach and Community Engagement Desk: Strengthening ties with the people and communities we serve.

Our Vision Ahead

We look to the future with optimism and ambition one marked by digital transformation, expanded programming, and stronger academic collaboration. Plans are underway to introduce online streaming, multilingual programming, and joint projects with universities, NGOs, and media partners.

Our goal is to become a leading university-based community radio station in the region known for excellence, inclusivity, and innovation

MMU Radio Services

MMU Radio 105.2 FM broadcasts local, national and international news and sports coverage, public service announcements (PSA’s), community datebooks (announcing local events), University and schools datebooks (announcing university/schools events), local weather forecasts, participation in the Emergency Alert System (EAS), interviews, community based programs, community and university on-air discussions, coverage and participation in local and school events, and other informative and community based functions including talk-shows, documentaries, community dialogues and music. We provide a diverse and well-rounded listening experience for our audience, with a focus on playing music from both established and emerging artists local, national and international artists.

Programs

  1. The Morning Buzzi: Gives an early morning inspirational to kickstart your day on positive vibes from 6:00am 10:00am evry Monday to Friday with popular segments like “Akaaro kowaitu”
  2. Twekambe program: A mid-morning program from 10:00pm to 2:00pm aimed at morale boosting our local farmers and traders encouraging them to work to their work with positivity.
  3. The Afternoon Shades: An afternoon-evening programme 2:00pm to 6;00pm giving the listener  urban vibes with a touch of soul music only.
  4. Ekyooto program: Our evening drive-show running from 6:00pm to 10:00pm featuring popular selected songs, (“six at six) and fireplace kind of conversation to help the listener wind the day.
  5. Rarakurungi program (Good night) program: is our late night show from 10:00pm to 1:00pm
  6. Amagezi murro: Our late night program that runs from 1:00pm till morning.
